ATTENTION SPRING ATHLETES: Friday, March 12th will be the deadline to sign up for Spring Sports. If you have registered for a sport and have not yet been cleared, you must see Mrs. Peebles in the front office this week. If your paperwork is incomplete by Friday, you will not be allowed to continue. ATTENTION STUDENT DRIVERS! Pre-registration for parking spaces will begin April 5th through April 30th. Details will be announced after Spring Break. Parking spaces cost $25.00. Plan ahead. TEACHER PAY BACK!! Do any of you want to see some of Thurston’s favorite teachers dress up crazy this Friday? Then you should take part of Teacher Pay Back! Come to the front office and vote for your favorite teacher by donating money in their jar. Here’s what they will be dressed as: Mr. Elroy – Mardi Gras, Mrs, Gingerich - Pirate, Mr. Dube – The Tooth Fairy, Mr. Underwood - Cheerleader, Ms. Meston – Football player, and Mrs. Schwab – Hippie. The teacher with the most money at the end of the day on Thursday, 3/11, will be the one to dress crazy on Friday, 3/12. These teachers are willing to dress up for a good cause, “To Write Love On Her Arms” – a non-profit organization raising awareness against self abuse. Sign-ups for the AP Tests begin today. Please bring your money to Ms. Willie in the main office and a receipt to the counseling office. See your counselor if you qualify for a fee waiver. Papa’s Pizza fundraiser for the Senior All Night Party is taking place Wednesday, March 10th-all day. Flyers will be available in the counseling office. Support the Seniors The Thurston Band and Orchestra will be hosting a Dinner and a Show on Thursday March 11th. Dinner will be catered by BJ's restaurant and includes an all you can eat menu with Pizza, pasta, salads and refreshments. Dinner begins at 6:00 with Thurston's own Code Red as dinner music and the concert will begin at 7:00 in the Theater. The percussion ensemble, colorguard, concert band, Symphonic winds, jazz ensemble and orchestra will all be performing. Come to the band room to get your tickets for the dinner. Remember to get your electronic application for the Lane Community College Scholarship sent by this Friday, March 12!! If your GPA is between 2.0 and 3.0, you are eligible for the Gilma Greenhoot Scholarship that pays for your 2 years at Lane and is transferable to a 4 year college. You are only competing against Thurston students! Come to the Career Center for more information The next Eugene Fire and EMS Department Teen Career Day will be held on Friday, April 9th. Although the Springfield School District will not provide transportation to the event, you must sign up at the School to Work office in the Career Center by Monday, April 5th, in order to get the required paperwork. ATTENTION STUDENTS!! Beginning April 5th, any student receiving a parking violation ticket, will be fined $10.00. After receiving the third ticket, your parking privilege will be revoked. Please park in your assigned spot. Juniors and Seniors - This year's LCC Hands-On Career Exploration will be the morning of Friday, April 30th. Sign up today at the School to Work office for one of only 30 spots. *********************************SENIOR ANNOUNCEMENTS************************************** 1. If you are in need of transcript for college or scholarship, you must give the Counseling Center 24 hours notice. Please stop by Counseling, fill out a transcript request form and you will be able to pick up your transcript the next day. 2. Seniors, the leadership class is working on your Senior T-Shirt and how your names will be placed on the back of the t-shirt. If you have a nickname that you would prefer to use, please stop by counseling and see Mrs. Morris or Mrs. Plueard. ***************************************CAREER CENTER NEWS****************************************** On Thursday, March 18th, a representative from Grand Canyon University will be on our campus at 10 am. Please come to the Career Center and sign up on the yellow sheet and learn more about this college located in Phoenix, Arizona. The Lane Foundation Scholarship is now available online!
