Thurston ASB Leadership Update News
With a new advisor, leadership is starting off the school year strong! Following a successful Freshman Day and freshman class elections, the youngest officers are working on getting underclassmen’s input on off-campus lunch. The sophomores are assisting with that and are also fundraising for their class through a badminton tournament, a movie night, and other events.
Now that prom is set for May 20, the juniors are working on selecting a theme, choosing decorations, and preparing for one of the biggest events of the year. The senior class officers earned about $9,000 from the Hoco Country Gala and are looking ahead to June 10, 2017, when they will graduate at the Hult Center. In the meantime, they are selecting graduation announcements, meeting with all the seniors, and working on the THS Pageant.
The ASB officers are keeping busy planning assemblies, Tree of Joy, and student senate meetings and assisting with the THS Pageant. The president attends school board meetings, while the vice president’s focus is on improving THS’s clubs. The financial director keeps the students up-to-date on class and ASB accounts while assisting the senior class officers. The activities director is planning Tree of Joy—a two-week fundraiser for presents for children at local elementary schools—as the assemblies director assists and works on the January assembly.
Leadership is keeping busy and is excited for the rest of the school year!
