ACT Testing Day: Thank you to everyone – students, families and staff – for making the ACT testing day on Tuesday, April 23rd a huge success. Students came on time and ready to go. We appreciate families’ flexibility on testing day with students getting out of school early. Juniors will receive their scores in the mail toward the end of May. Please keep the score sheet information in a safe place because you will need it for reference during your senior year. The school will receive Freshman and Sophomore scores. We will pass out those score sheets and test booklets in the fall. Again, thank you for everyone’s support to help our student’s participate in this special opportunity.
Expanded Options: Current Sophomore and Junior students are able to take college classes next year while in high school at the University of Oregon or Lane Community College for a reduced fee. The course must fit within his or her post-secondary plan and not be offered at Thurston. Students are responsible for their own transportation. You received a letter in the mail from the district office earlier this year about Expanded Options. If you believe your child will want to take part in this opportunity, please contact counselor Lori Stock at 541-744-5155 or at lori.stock@springfield.k12.or.us.
Naviance Tasks: Yes, we keep talking about these tasks! All students have Naviance tasks that need to be completed by the end of the year. These tasks are related to Career-Related Graduation Requirements that must be worked on each year. Seniors need to have them completed in order to receive their diploma. Class of 2017 Open House: We will be hosting an Open House for our incoming 9th graders on Wednesday, May 15th at 6:30pm. This is a great time for students and families to see different classes, activities, clubs and sports that will be offered next year. We always have a wonderful night with the incoming freshmen and their families.
