Thurston High School
Advanced Placement and College Now Options
Students at Thurston High School have a number of options available to earn college credit for high school course work.
Advanced Placement (AP) classes are taught at a college level. Students have the option of taking the AP test at their own expense in May each year. Scores on the tests are evaluated by the college the student attends. Credit is awarded according to each college and departments standards.
College Now classes are classes that are approved by Lane Community College (LCC). These classes cover the same content and usually use the same textbooks as specific LCC courses. Students earning certain grades in those classes earn both the college credit which is recorded on a LCC transcript as well as high school credit. Credit is available in courses that transfer to 4-year colleges as well as in professional-technical courses such as welding.
