11/23/09 – REGULAR SCHEDULE

Congratulations to our Thurston Cheerleaders. This past Saturday they took home more medals than any other school at the annual All State Competition. Highlighted by junior Brandy Duren's record setting 3 first place medals the Colt Cheerleaders won an amazing 19 total medals at the competition. Duren became the only cheerleader in the history or Oregon to win 3 divisions in one day. Other highlights included sophomore Jordyn Wood winning 3 medals, Senior Stephen Montes winning two state titles in the stunting divisions and Haley Randall becoming the first ever freshman to place in the top 10. Great Job Thurston Cheerleaders.

Attention all National Honor Society members, we will meet briefly after school on Tuesday, 11/24-- please put the meeting on your calendar.

AP Government Mock Election Update:  In Friday's primaries on the Republican side, David Ward captured the South Carolina, Florida and Virginia primaries, while Jonathan Edwards won the the New Hampshire primary.  On the Democratic side, John Varin tied with Andrew Schmunk in South Carolina, while Varin won in Florida.  Ulisses Perez won the New Hampshire and Virginia primaries.

The THS boys soccer awards night is going to be held Tuesday, 11/24th at 7:00 pm at Papa’s Pizza. Everyone is invited. All players MUST remember to bring any uniforms and gear that you may still have to turn in.  You will be charged for any unreturned items.

Attention members of Fashion Club!  We will be meeting Wednesday, 11/25th, in the Colt Lounge, rm 171, after school.

Seniors pictures and quotes are due to room 140 by December 18th.   No late pictures will be accepted, so please get them in.

Mr. THS voting is December 7,8,9th for all Junior and Senior girls to vote for their favorite senior boys.  Mr. THS pep assembly announcing the winners will be December 11th.  Parents of the nominees will be invited to attend the assembly.

The Booster Club is taking pre-orders for sweatshirts and pants for Christmas gifts!!  Sweatshirts are only $25, in red, black or gray and sweatpants are only $22.. what a bargain! Both say Thurston on them.   Orders need to be in by Friday, Dec 4 with pick up available on Wednesday, 12/16..in time for Christmas.  Get your order form in the front office.

Volunteers Needed!!  The Festival of Trees needs volunteers before and during the week of Thanksgiving, to distribute posters, work at the event and move and pack Christmas trees.  Please call 741-4606 to volunteer.

Attention students interested in University of Oregon's Clark Honors College please come to a presentation on December 8th during your lunch.  Pizza and drinks will be provided, so you must sign up in the Career Center on the yellow sheets!

Attention All Students!  We will be having an ASVAB test in the library on December 8th at 8:30am. Please come to the Career Center to sign up!  The ASVAB test will help match your skill strength with career choices, so take advantage of this opportunity!!

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival trip to Ashland will be Tuesday, May 11th - Wednesday, May 12th.  Please talk to Mrs. Hoke in room #82 for details if you're interested in attending this year.
